SVP Programming Strategy & Acquisitions
Christian Drobnyk was named Senior Vice President, Scheduling and Acquisitions, of Lifetime Networks, in August 2011. Based in New York, he is responsible for overseeing all program acquisitions, scheduling and planning for Lifetime, LMN and Lifetime Real Women.
Prior to joining Lifetime, Drobnyk was Controller and General Manager of UKTV Entertainment Networks in London, where he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of UKTV's Entertainment division and its highly rated cable and broadcast networks Alibi, Gold, Watch and Dave. Since joining UKTV in 2008, he oversaw a complete re-brand of the division's entertainment portfolio and introduced an aggressive commissioning, acquisitions and co-production strategy that drove double digit audience growth for three consecutive years. While there, he also implemented UKTV's largest ever investment in exclusive programming, which included original commissions like Dynamo: Magician Impossible, Red Dwarf: Back to Earth -- UKTV's highest rated shows in company history – together with an ambitious acquisitions strategy that delivered Castle, Murdoch Mysteries and Body of Proof.
From 2006 to 2008, Drobnyk was Senior Vice President, Programming and Development, for TLC and Discovery Home Channel in the U.S. In this role, he was responsible for all development, scheduling and acquisitions of all off-net and original series and specials for the two networks. He developed and commissioned more than 600 hours of programming each year for TLC and Discovery Home Channel. Programs launched under his guidance include Miami Ink, Little People Big World, Say Yes to the Dress, Big Medicine and Take Home Chef, resulting in 18 consecutive months of year-on-year audience growth for TLC.
Drobnyk began his career in television as Manager of Programming for TLC in 1999 before being named Director of Scheduling for Travel Channel and, subsequently, Vice President, Programming and Acquisitions, for TLC.
A member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Royal Television Society, Drobnyk earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Hamilton College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. His academic honors include Phi Beta Kappa and he recently completed the Accelerated Development Executive Education program at London Business School.
