Christian Murphy is Senior Vice President, International Programming & Marketing for A+E Networks. Murphy manages the international program catalogue, production, brand strategy and marketing for A+E Networks’ international division. A+E Networks’ channel brands include History™, A&E®, Lifetime, BIO®, Crime & Investigation Network™, and Military History™. A+E Networks operates 52 channels in 150 markets and 30 languages, and distributes content in every major media market in the world.

Murphy and his team are responsible for A+E Networks’ international content catalogue. He provides oversight of and works closely with local teams on programming, production, scheduling and acquisition strategies. He is also responsible for international production activities and acquisitions for channels outside the US.

In his role overseeing international marketing, Murphy is responsible for production of brand, on-air, print, digital and other assets for the A+E Networks’ international portfolio. He works with local marketing teams on new series and specials, channel brands, digital campaigns and community outreach initiatives. He also oversees international B2B marketing and promotional initiatives, division events and research.

Murphy joined AETN in 2008 as Vice President, International. Prior to joining A+E Networks, he was General Manager, Television & Marketing at FOXTEL Management Pty Ltd, Australia’s dominant subscription television platform. During his eight year tenure, he held numerous senior executive positions across all aspects of the business including channel management and broadcast operation, new channel launches, affiliate distribution and ad sales, new platform technology developments and distribution: channel brand, platform acquisition and retention marketing, departmental restructuring, resource development and planning. At FOXTEL, Murphy managed the A+E Networks’ brands, The History Channel and The Biography Channel, in Australia and New Zealand, and led the team that launched Crime & Investigation Network in Australia, the first territory launch for the channel brand.

Murphy previously held positions with several advertising agencies in Australia including DDB, Young & Rubicam and McCann-Erickson. He is a graduate of Victoria University and lives in Connecticut.
