Alan Eyres

SVP, Programming & Development

National Geographic Channel

lan Eyres is senior vice president of programming and development for the National Geographic Channel, where he has been responsible for developing and overseeing production of some of the highest rated series in the history of the network including Wicked Tuna, Brain Games, Life Below Zero, Ultimate Survival Alaska, and Mick Dodge in addition to event series such as The 80s and The 90s.

Eyres will be relocating to the National Geographic Channel’s Washington, DC headquarters in Spring 2015 and currently acts as head of development for the entire network, overseeing more than 400 hours of development a year.

Eyres comes from Discovery Channel, where he most recently served as acting VP with responsibilities across development and production, working on series in including the multiple award-winning Human Planet, some of the top-rated Shark Week episodes, and served as series editor on the prestige series Curiosity and high-end specials hosted by major celebrities such as Samuel L. Jackson, Robin Williams, Will.i.Am and Maggie Gyllenghaal.

Prior to coming to Discovery in 2007, Eyres worked for 10 years in production in the U.K., producing nonfiction television for both the U.S. and U.K. markets, including the Emmy and BAFTA-nominated Krakatoa: The Last Days for the BBC.
