Matt leads October's creative strategy across its UK and US offices, overseeing relationships with broadcasters, producers, partners and talent. Since joining in 2004, Matt has expanded October’s slate from a blue-chip documentary base to the full spectrum of factual content, creating and executive producing across diverse genres.
Since his appointment as Creative Director the company has experienced significant growth in the US, quadrupling its turnover, setting up a flourishing operation in New York and significantly increasing its client base.
Recent October Films commissions include innovative adventure-survival format Mygrations for National Geographic Channel (US and international); drama-doc series Barbarians Rising for History (US and global); Channel 4’s breakout hits Walking The Nile and Walking The Himalayas; UGC motoring format Motorheads for BBC Brit; factual entertainment formats 3 Bad Dates, 1 Soulmate and The Room, both for TLC US; and the touching documentary First Heartbeat for TLC UK.
Matt was also responsible for developing and overseeing the popular true crime series Obsession and Suspicion (both Investigation Discovery) and the theatrically released and award-winning Serial Thriller trilogy. He conceived and Executive Produced the Emmy winning World War Two From Space (History), and the memorable documentary special, Kris: Dying to Live for the BBC.
