Kevin Bennett is the general manager of Investigation Discovery (ID) and American Heroes Channel (AHC), as well as the executive vice president of programming for ID, AHC and Destination America. In his dual roles, Bennett leads a centralized programming, scheduling and acquisitions division across the three brands, and oversees the day-to-day network business efforts for ID and AHC.
As part of the team that conceived of and launched Investigation Discovery nine years ago, Bennett has helped to create and grow such longstanding franchises as On the Case with Paula Zahn, Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall, Disappeared and Deadly Women. Under his leadership, ID has become the #2 network in ad-supported cable for W25-54 and the #6 network for P25-54 and the network has achieved 32 consecutive quarters of prime audience growth. ID’s loyal and passionate audience has also catapulted ID to the #1 spot in Total Day Length of Tune in all of television among P25-54 and W25-54, a record it has held for nearly five years.
Previously, Bennett was SVP of Programming at Discovery Channel, a key position on the flagship’s senior leadership team. There, he was responsible for planning, directing, and executing the programming strategy for the network, with oversight of all programming activities, including program planning, scheduling and programming budgets.
During his 20-year career at Discovery Communications, Bennett has been instrumental in the launch of three networks – Discovery Health Channel, Discovery Times Channel and Investigation Discovery, where he held the position of VP of Programming prior to joining Discovery Channel. Bennett received a master of arts in communication theory and research, and a bachelor of arts in communication studies, from West Virginia University.
