Richard Bradley is MD and co-founder of Lion Television, one of the industry’s most successful production companies with bases in London, Glasgow and New York. Richard specializes in both popular, ambitious history, science and factual projects for broadcasters throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Under his creative leadership, Lion has established a worldwide reputation for innovative, accessible television, winning many awards including Emmys and BAFTAs. Richard oversees a diverse slate, from the hit CBBC comedy series Horrible Histories—winner of over 30 awards—to international documentary, from factual drama to living history. Richard and his team have pioneered production partnerships in Asia, especially China, to create dozens of programs for the Asian and global markets, from The First Emperor, the Emmy-Award winning China Atlas, Chinese School and Confucius, a ground-breaking co-production with CCTV10. Lion has strong working Chinese partnerships including CICC, CCTV, JSBC, Phoenix Satellite TV and employs Mandarin speakers on staff. Recent Lion shows include Chinese New Year: the Greatest Celebration on Earth (with CICC, 3 X Ihr BBC2) and Tales from Modern China with JSBC. Richard has chaired the documentary jury at the Shanghai TV Festival and is a frequent tutor and host for Asian delegations coming to the UK.
