Kari Thompson practices Entertainment Law and Corporate Law in the Los Angeles office of Abrams Garfinkel Margolis Bergson, LLP. Kari represents a broad range of clients, including production companies, producers, directors, writers, actors and unscripted on-camera talent in connection with motion picture, television, and new media projects. She structures, drafts and negotiates various entertainment transactions and advises clients on all aspects of financing, licensing/acquisition, development, production, distribution, and intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark issues. Kari also serves as production counsel on motion pictures, documentaries and both scripted and unscripted television series. Specifically, Kari has served as production and clearance counsel on unscripted television programming for Netflix, History, E!, VH1, MTV, BET, NatGeo WILD, WEtv, TruTV, Discovery, Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, Red Bull TV, Food Network, OWN, Lifetime, Travel Channel and A&E.

In addition to her entertainment practice, Kari handles general corporate matters, including preparing and negotiating confidentiality, non-competition and employment agreements.

Prior to joining AGMB, Kari served as in-house production and clearance counsel at United Artists Media Group on its NBC hit show The Voice. Before that, Kari served as in-house counsel at Lionsgate in its Television Business & Legal Affairs department.

Kari is a member of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society Unscripted Content Group, American Bar Association and California Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the state of California.

Kari received her J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Central Florida.
