Nat Geo’s Steve Schiffman joins advisory board

We’re thrilled to announce that Steve Schiffman, President, National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD has joined the 2011 Realscreen Summit Advisory Board.
Schiffman leads all functions of NGC, including programming, commissioning of global content, marketing, ad sales and digital media. During his tenure, NGC has added a sister network with the successful launch of Nat Geo WILD in the U.S., and has seen its momentum grow across all metrics, establishing new records for ratings and revenue, despite the recent economic downturn.

DeBitetto, Lambert, Liguori, Newman, Piligian & Saade join advisory board

Part of the success of past Realscreen Summits has come from the input and collaboration of industry stakeholders and leaders. With guidance from Nancy Dubuc, President and GM, History & Lifetime Networks and Howard T. Owens, Managing Director, Reveille, who are returning this year as co-chairs, I’m very excited to announce the names of some of this year’s advisory board members.
As President & General Manager, A&E Network & BIO Channel, Robert DeBitetto, manages a portfolio of cable networks including the flagship A&E Network, BIO (formerly The Biography Channel) and the Crime & Investigation Network, where he oversees all creative and business matters including programming, marketing, P&L management, strategic planning, brand development, acquisitions, web content and public relations.
Stephen Lambert, Chief Executive, Studio Lambert is one of Britain’s best known creative television executives, responsible for creating award-winning documentary formats such as Faking It, Secret Millionaire and Wife Swap. His most recent hit format is Undercover Boss, which he is producing for Channel 4 in the UK and for CBS in the States, where it has achieved phenomenal ratings success.
Peter Liguori, COO, Discovery Communications, provides leadership and vision for the company’s operational organizations, including marketing, Discovery Studios, corporate communications and corporate affairs, business affairs, and media technology, production and operations, as well as playing a key role in corporate budget and business decisions. He also chairs Discovery’s Content Committee comprised of U.S. Networks general managers with a focus on maximizing the value of the company’s marketing resources, network portfolio and overall corporate assets. He also serves as the lead executive representing Discovery Communications in its joint ventures with Hasbro, Inc., OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, and the Discovery-Sony-IMAX 3D channel.
Jeanne Newman, Partner at Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren & Richman, LLP primarily represents production companies, writers, performers and directors in the television business. Jeanne has specialized in helping international clients enter the U.S. television market. Some of Jeanne’s non-scripted production company clients include Endemol (Big Brother, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Deal Or No Deal, Wipeout); Ryan Seacrest Productions and Reveille (The Biggest Loser, The Office, Ugly Betty), who Jeanne reps along with Craig Jacobson; Shine Limited and The Magical Elves (Project Runway, Top Chef). With these clients and others, she has helped create new business models in a new business.
Craig Piligian, President, CEO & Executive Producer, Pilgrim Films & Television is one of the most successful producers of non-fiction content on U.S. cable and network television. Some of his ratings successes include The Ultimate Fighter, Dirty Jobs, Ghost Hunters, American Chopper and Greensburg.
John Saade, SVP Alternative Series, Specials & Late Night Programming, ABC Television Entertainment Group focuses on development for ABC’s alternative series, along with current production and late-night, as well as spearheading the creative efforts for upcoming projects. He has been instrumental in acquiring, developing and overseeing such hits as Dancing with the Stars, Wipeout, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Extreme Makeover and The Mole, among many others.
With the input of this impressive team of influencers you can expect relevant, stimulating and meaningful content and marquee speakers at your Summit in 2011.
