Gayle Gilman recently joined FremantleMedia North America as executive vice president, digital content. In this role she leads the company’s digital team in the creation of all original digital content, including The Pet Collective, the fastest growing pet destination on the Internet, and The Crew, the first television project under a multi-series, multi-year development deal with the website StyleHaul.
Gilman segued to Fremantle in September 2013 after a five-year tenure at Original Productions, where she most recently served as senior vice president for Original Productions Entertainment Network (OPEN). In this role, she established and guided the company’s digital media strategy, including the creation of branded and original content, as well as multiplatform distribution. Prior to launching the OPEN digital division for Original Productions, she was co-executive producer for its Emmy-nominated reality series Ice Road Truckers as well as Swords: Life on the Line, Lobstermen and America’s Lost Treasures.
She began her TV career in New York with development and programming positions at National Geographic Television, working on projects such as the award-winning Explorer series. She also served as director of documentary programming at A&E Television Networks, developing and producing series including the Emmy-winning Investigative Reports, Biography and American Justice. She eventually made her way to London, where she served as director of co-productions and programming for Channel Four’s C4International, before emigrating to Los Angeles to become senior vice president for RDF Media USA.
Gilman earned a B.A. in literature from Dartmouth College and studied film production at New York University.
