Corus Entertainment

John MacDonald is Vice President, Head of Women’s and Family Networks where he oversees the general management for Corus television's seven specialty cable networks which target women and family audiences, including W Network, CMT (Canada), OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (Canada) and ABC Spark. 

Prior to Corus, MacDonald's successful 25-year career in the U.S. included, most recently, his role as chief operating officer, EVP programming and digital for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network (U.S.)

Before joining OWN, MacDonald was Senior Vice President, Content Programming and Strategy, responsible for the development and implementation of overall programming strategy for MTV Networks' four music networks: MTV, MTV2, MTV Tr3s and mtvU.

He has also held senior executive programming roles at Fine Living, part of Scripps Networks portfolio of cable services and before that, was Executive Vice President, Programming Enterprises & Cable Services at Twentieth Century Fox.

MacDonald holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, Boston, MA. He is also a faculty member at UCLA’s Anderson School of Business Administration where he teaches a course on content creation in the digital age.
