Jim Ackerman

Jim Ackerman is Senior Vice President, Primetime Alternative Programming for CNBC.  He is responsible for CNBC’s strategy, development and production of new reality formats. Jim Ackerman started his career as a producer on NBC’s Today Show in 1985.  He has worked for “Lifetime” and was a Senior Broadcast Producer of CBS This Morning. In 1999, he left the news business and began developing his own original shows.  Over the next few years, he sold a number of formats to third party production companies and secured a series of overall deals with Buena Vista Television (ABC/Disney), Warner Brothers Television and Fox.  During this time, he executive produced a number of pilots and presentations.  In 2003, Ackerman was recruited by Vh1 to oversee East Coast development and was key member of the creative team that oversaw five years of consecutive quarterly growth.  In 2006, he was named Senior Vice President of Development and Production.  Ackerman personally developed a number of popular hit series including Tool Academy, Love & Hip Hop and Scream Queens. He also oversaw long-running hit franchises like Celebrity Fit Club, Best Week Ever and What Chilli Wants.
