Nikki van Schyndel is an adventurer, survival expert and wilderness guide who has always sought out the experiences that scare her the most. It’s an instinct that has led her on unbelievable adventures in the wild, including her 52-day experience on Season 6 of History Channel’s hit survival series Alone.
Following her run as a participant on Alone, Nikki returned to the series, this time behind the scenes as a survival consultant. She was also tapped to host Alone’s “Fireside Chat” interview segments for Seasons 8 and 9. Today, she serves as a consultant on numerous productions in the survival space.
Nikki is also an accomplished writer; her bestselling book Becoming Wild chronicled her experience living in the wilderness on a deserted island for newly two years. While on the island, she fished with bone hooks, started friction fires and even speared a bear to survive – it’s a story she also shared in her 2019 TEDx talk.
In the summer of 2023, Nikki will launch her newest idea – LUMINARIA Wilderness Ventures – a daring, bespoke adventure travel company for people who want to reconnect to the wild.
