Loren Ruch is Group Senior Vice President, Production & Development, HGTV, where he oversees the programming and development team responsible for hit series including Celebrity IOU, A Very Brady Renovation, Property Brothers: Forever Home, My Lottery Dream Home, Flip or Flop, as well as the discovery+ series Trixie Motel.
HGTV is one the biggest and most valuable brands in the industry, ranking as a Top 10 cable network among A25-54 and W25-54 every night of the week. During his tenure, Ruch has helped develop a content strategy that delivers more buzzworthy tentpole series as well as an expanded roster of franchises and fan favorites. The network’s many blockbuster hits led HGTV to maintain its position as the #1 network among ad-supported cable in Total Day with W25-54 in 2021.
So far in 2022, Ruch’s efforts have helped position HGTV as a leader in the industry with the launch of six of the top 20 freshman hits among A25-54 and W25-54, including Home Town Kickstart, Ugliest House in America, Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn, Tough Love with Hilary Farr, Holmes Family Rescue and Married to Real Estate.
In addition, Ruch is the programming point person for ad sales partnerships and has worked on many integrated specials and custom programs for clients including Wayfair, Target, cross-network specials and the myriad of sponsors in the Home Giveaway shows. He is also the programming liaison for HGTV Magazine. In 2020, he also hosted his very own
discovery+ series, HGTV House Party, where he interviewed various celebrities and network talent. Early in his programming position he oversaw popular hits like Ellen’s Design Challenge, Design Star, Flipping the Block, Beach Flip, Designed to Sell, Secrets From a Stylist and more.
Prior to this role, Ruch spent 13 years managing teams and creating content across many of the Scripps Networks Interactive networks including HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and Great American Country. He oversaw a team of fifteen producers and programs including HGTV Dream Home, Smart Home, Urban Oasis, White House Christmas and a variety of series including old time favorites like Scrapbooking, Weekend Entertaining and The Big Reveal.
Prior to his position at Scripps, Loren spent ten years at Fox’s Good Day LA and the nationally syndicated Good Day Live where he was the recipient of five Emmy awards for his work. He started his career in daytime talk and game shows including Home & Family, Love Connection and Family Feud.
Loren was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, just outside of LA, and was one of the original “valley kids.” He also appeared on Wheel of Fortune Teen Week in the 10th grade. And, he double majored in Journalism and Theater Arts at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Loren resides in Manhattan with his husband David.
