Investigation Discovery

As vice president of development for ID, Erica Diaz-Gant is charged with conceptualizing and creating premium content for television’s preeminent true crime destination, ID, and a slate of true crime originals streaming on MAX and discovery+. In 2023 to date, ID is currently the #1 total day non-sports cable network among women, ages 25-54, delivering hundreds of original premiere hours a year of mystery and suspense programming to more than 160 countries and territories.

Diaz-Gant is responsible for developing gripping true crime content to feed a robust pipeline layered with content ranging from core true crime series to active investigations and social-issue-oriented programming. Noteworthy breakout hits from ID this past year include The Price Of Glee, which catapulted ID to the #1 spot in its timeslot during its January premiere, followed by Jared From Subway and The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace, two of the highest rated new unscripted non-spin off cable series among P25-54, year to date. Additionally, tasked with creating thought-provoking content that shines, she developed a special to honor the life and legacy of Matthew Shepard on the 25th anniversary of his death with The Matthew Shepard Story: An American Hate Crime.

Since her tenure at ID began, Diaz-Gant has been responsible for the development of several hit ID series and specials bringing top talent to the network, including the Holly Madison produced series The Playboy Murders and the preeminent voice in true crime news with the addition of Nancy Grace hosting ID’s first-ever topical series, Crimefeed. Diaz-Gant also developed the active investigation series which brings notorious victims’ rights advocate, John Walsh, to ID’s air with In Pursuit with John Walsh. Since the series premiered in 2019 on ID, more than 50 featured fugitives have been brought to justice and dozens of missing children have been recovered. Diaz-Gant has also helped to reimagine ID’s fan-favorite star Lt. Joe Kenda with the expansion of Homicide Hunter: American Detective and a trilogy of Homicide Hunter specials.

Creating premium true crime across all platforms, Diaz-Gant spearheads ID’s podcast initiative, developing original content for ID’s true crime podcast slate, including the award-winning podcast Mind of a Monster serial killer franchise with Dr. Michelle Ward, and Disappeared: The Bradley Sisters hitting #1 on Apple’s true crime podcasts. Both have companion streaming specials.

Prior to joining Discovery in 2017, Diaz-Gant was the executive in charge of the longest-running crime series on the Oxygen Network, Snapped, and developed and produced their second longest-running crime series, Killer Couples. During her tenure at NBC Universal, she developed original content including She Made Me Do It, #KILLERPOST, and the Snapped: Notorious franchise.
