Matt Zien

SR VP Development & Creative Director

The Intellectual Property Corporation

Matt Zien is the Vice President of Development for The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), an Emmy-winning production company and industry leader in premium unscripted content. Since being founded in 2016 by Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, IPC has produced more than 200 hours of programming, including the Emmy-winning and/or nominated series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath (A&E), Mind Field (Youtube Premium), Active Shooter: America Under Fire (Showtime), and the critically acclaimed feature documentary Operation Odessa.

As the first creative executive to join IPC as director of development, Zien directly reported to the CEO and President during a period of growth in which the company’s slate expanded to more than 20 series at networks including Amazon Prime, A&E, Discovery, History, MTV, Nat Geo, Netflix, Oxygen, Showtime, Travel, TBS, and YouTube Premium. During this time and in his prior years as a development exec, Zien shepherded development on dozens of projects, including Amazon’s This Giant Beast That Is The Global Economy (in partnership with Adam McKay / Gary Sanchez Productions) and #FreeMeek (in partnership with Jay Z / Roc Nation), Oxygen’s The Price of Duty and Deadly Cults, Showtime’s Active Shooter: America Under Fire, History’s Kingpin, A&E’s Cults and Extreme Belief, CNN’s Declassified, MTV’s True Life: Crazy Young Love, and several unannounced series currently in production at major cable networks and streaming services.

Prior to the launch of IPC, Zien was a development executive at All3Media America, and Studio Lambert, where he was first hired by Holzman and Saidman after pitching them a show. As a development executive, Zien takes a hands on approach to his work, often editing IPC’s sizzles/presentations and utilizing a diverse skillset to assist other departments within the company on tasks that range from main title conceptualization to graphic and web design. He is a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
