Laura Fleury

SVP, Category 6 Mediaâ„¢

A+E Networks

In July 2018, Laura Fleury was named Senior Vice President, A+E Networks Unscripted Programming and Co-Productions. In this new role, Laura collaborates on projects with A+E Originals (A+E’s unscripted production unit), as she develops and oversees projects, identifies potential talent and works with Corporate Development to develop projects with the A+E portfolio partners (e.g., Atlas Obscura, Panna, Beautycon, etc.). Laura also continues to develop and executive produce A+E international productions as well as developing and overseeing unscripted co-productions for A+E Networks between A+E International and various U.S. partners. She now reports to Paul Buccieri, President of A+E Networks Group.

Throughout her tenure at A+E Networks, Laura has developed and overseen some of the company’s longest running franchises, including The First 48, Cold Case Files, Beyond Scared Straight, Escaping Polygamy, I Survived and many others.

In her most recent role as SVP, Head of Programming, International, Laura was responsible for setting A+E Networks’ international programming vision to drive performance and growth outside the US, both across the company’s portfolio outside the U.S. (History, H2, Lifetime, A&E Network, FYI, Blaze and Crime + Investigation) and through optimizing content sales through strategic editorial packaging. During her 2+ years with International, Laura was a key force in new channel launches and rebrands in Korea, UK, Italy, and Iberia, as well as the global rebrand of Crime + Investigation. She also played a key role in the launch of the digital brand, Kriminal, the execution of the global History of Football event across our History Channels, and the creation of the first global programming event for C+I, Twisted Faith, which takes place in November 2018.

Prior to her role in International, served in the role of Head of Programming & Development for LMN (Lifetime Movie Network) since 2013, and was named SVP/Head of Programming & Development of LMN in 2015. There she oversaw the original programming and development strategy for LMN, creating and executing a plan to introduce original programming to LMN, overseeing all development and programming, as well as serving as executive producer on all series and specials, including Escaping Polygamy, I Love You… But I Lied, My Crazy Ex and The Secret Tapes of the O.J Simpson Case, among others. She also developed and launched LMN’s first fully-original scripted movie, House of Darkness, which garnered the highest ratings for LMN in 2016; and she was instrumental in developing a movie/book partnership between A+E Networks and Harlequin.

Prior to LMN, Fleury held senior positions at A&E Network and Bio Channel, where she developed and executive produced many of the network’s top-rated series including global hit franchise The First 48 (still going strong after 14 years), Emmy-nominated Beyond Scared Straight, 2-time Emmy-nominated Cold Case Files, Parking Wars, Manhunters: Fugitive Task Force, I Survived…, Parole Board and many more.

Prior to working in television, Fleury worked in independent film production on scripted and unscripted films, including the award-winning feature documentaries Brother’s Keeper and Paradise Lost.

A graduate of the Women in Cable and Telecommunications' prestigious Betsy Magness Leadership Institute, she has also received a NAMIC Vision Award, a Thurgood Marshall Journalism Award and has several Emmy nominations.

Fleury graduated with highest honors from The University of Virginia, where she created her own major, “The Psychology of Visual Arts,” and wrote her thesis on the “Psychology of Suspense in Hitchcock Films”.

She is (nearly) fluent in French and currently resides in NY.
