Head, Unscripted & Documentary Programming

AMC Networks

As executive vice president of non-fiction programming for AMC and SundanceTV, Eliot Goldberg is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for both networks’ original non-fiction development, current programming and non-fiction content for the company’s growing studio business. He first joined AMC in 2013 and added Sundance TV to his purview in 2015.

At AMC, Goldberg has spearheaded the network’s slate of unscripted programming, with shows that explore authentic real worlds, historical events and late-night discussion. Some of the key series under Goldberg’s purview include Talking Dead, the Emmy®-nominated, #1 talk show on television, the Visionaries documentary series including James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction, Eli Roth’s History of Horror, and an upcoming installment dedicated to hip-hop, travelogue Ride with Norman Reedus featuring The Walking Dead star as he explores motorcycle culture across the country; and Heroes and Villains: The History of Comic Books, executive produced by The Walking Dead creator and writer Robert Kirkman.

At SundanceTV, Goldberg also oversees non-fiction development and series including Close Up with the Hollywood Reporter and four-part true crime documentary event series, Murder in the Heartland: In Cold Blood Revisited, based on the landmark crime, produced and directed by Academy Award-nominated, Emmy and Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger and the Leonardo DiCaprio executive produced documentary Jonestown: Terror In The Jungle.

Goldberg also oversees special programming events including various The Walking Dead specials, as well as Imagine: John Lennon 75th Birthday Concert, an all-star musical tribute concert in honor of what would have been John Lennon’s 75th birthday.

Before AMC, Goldberg served as senior vice president of original programming and development for both Viacom networks CMT and TV Land, where he was part of the team that developed the network’s first scripted hits, including Hot in ClevelandThe Execs, and Happily Divorced.

Previously, Goldberg was executive vice president of programming and development for Ryan Seacrest Productions, where he played a key role in launching Seacrest’s production company, which has become one of the industry’s top production companies. During his tenure at RSP, Goldberg created and executive produced the pop culture phenomenon Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which continues to be one of the most enduring and popular unscripted hits of the past decade. Goldberg also developed the critically acclaimed, Emmy® Award-winning ABC series, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

Goldberg graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in television and film. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 4 children. He is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
