David Lee is Vice President of Development and Production for MotorTrend TV (formerly Velocity), responsible for producing the network’s series, specials and live programming events and developing new content.

Lee joined Discovery, Inc. as Director of Development three months prior to the Velocity’s launch in October 2011. Since then he’s been instrumental in helping the network increase ratings two-fold among its target M25-54 demo. Also, under his tenure, the network has an astounding strike rate of more than 90% of freshman series that are renewed for sophomore runs.

He is the lead executive producer for Barrett-Jackson Live, overseeing 100 hours of live programming each year for MotorTrend TV. In addition, Lee serves as the executive producer of several top series including the network’s highest rated in Bitchin' Rides, the incredibly popular Fantomworks, and Junkyard Empire among others.

Prior to joining Discovery, Lee served as Sr. Coordinating Producer, Remote Production for FOX-owned SPEED (previously Speedvision), overseeing all aspects of coverage for the network’s various live properties including NASCAR, Formula 1, Sportscars, Barrett-Jackson Auctions and others. In addition, he also held various roles in studio based and long form post productions.

Lee began his television career at ESPN after graduating from Castleton University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. He is based out of Discovery’s offices in Silver Spring, MD.
