Monica Albuquerque serves as the Senior Vice President of Content and Development of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, leading the content strategy and development for the company’s renowned studios. In this role, she partners with production, marketing, sales, research, and audience analytics to deliver compelling content for both linear and streaming platforms. With over three decades of experience, Albuquerque is a recognized expert in scripted and unscripted programming, development, casting, talent management, and marketing for Spanish-language programming. She reports directly to Javier Pons, Executive Vice President of Telemundo Studios.

Prior to joining Telemundo, Albuquerque was head of all content at Warner Bros. Discovery Latin America (WBDLA), where she drove the development of original scripted projects for HBO Max and pay TV platforms across the region. In this role, she also managed the development, research and talent strategies for both fiction and non-fiction programming. Albuquerque initially joined WBDLA in 2021 as Head of Talent and Telenovela Development, bringing her deep expertise in Spanish-language storytelling to the organization.

Before joining WBDLA, Albuquerque spent 21 years at TV Globo, where she held various leadership roles, including seven years as Head of Artistic and Portfolio Development. In this capacity, she was instrumental in advancing the company’s growth, promoting diversity and gender equality among writers, and establishing innovative talent development initiatives. Albuquerque also played a pivotal role in Globo’s entry into English-language production, overseeing a ground-breaking two-series production and distribution partnership with Sony Pictures Television, unveiled at the 2019 L.A. Screenings. She began her career in corporate communications and video journalism with prominent Brazilian television networks and media companies.

The recipient of notable industry awards and recognitions, Albuquerque was recognized as the first Brazilian named to Variety’s “50 Most Influential Women in International Entertainment” in the 2019 Women Impact Report.

Monica earned her Executive MBA from The COPPEAD Graduate School of Business in Rio de Janeiro and received Executive Training in People Management from INSEAD (“Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires”).
