Andrew Jackson is President of International Production and Development for Plimsoll Productions.
With offices in Los Angeles, Bristol and Cardiff, Plimsoll is behind more than 50 series, 14 live shows and seven films including the Emmy nominated Hostile Planet with Bear Grylls (National Geographic), Yellowstone Live (National Geographic), Rescue Dog to Super Dog (Channel 4), Britain’s Parking Hell (Channel 5), Life at the Extreme (ITV), and Sit Baby Sit (Channel 4), among many more.
Andrew has a rich pedigree in factual filmmaking and commissioning as EVP of Discovery Landmarks and Specials in the US. He was responsible for many hours of successful programming for the Channel, including two record breaking Shark Weeks. Previously, as Head of the BBC Natural History Unit, he was responsible for the award winning range of programmes on TV, radio and online -- including Frozen Planet, Springwatch, Andy’s Wild Adventures, Deadly 60, Life Story, and initiating production on the highly successful Planet Earth 2 and Blue Planet 2.
As Managing Director of Tigress Productions, Andrew led the massive growth of the business establishing a US office and building a turnover of more than $16m, with major series including Monty Halls’ Great Escape, 3 seasons of Everest for Discovery, Nature Shock, Austin Stevens, Ben’s Zoo, Africa and In The Wild; on which he was a producer/director working with Julia Roberts, Goldie Hawn, Bob Hoskins and other Hollywood names.
Andrew started his TV career in BBC News and Current Affairs, working on Breakfast Time and the Six O'clock News. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of the West of England and as a visiting Professor, lectures on UWE's film and journalism courses.
