History

Amy Savitsky is Senior Vice President, Development and Programming for HISTORY, a role she assumed in November 2019.  She is responsible for driving development and production for the network. 

Savitsky was previously Senior Vice President of Programming at A&E Network where she oversaw development and production of A&E’s nonfiction, alternative and reality series. Among her credits at A&E are the Emmy Award®-winning “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,” “A&E Investigates: Cults and Extreme Beliefs, “Kids Behind Bars,” “The Murder of Laci Peterson,” “Alaska PD,” and Ghosthunters.”  

Savitsky joined A&E in 2015 after more than a decade at Discovery Communications, where she served as Senior Vice President of Development for TLC. She oversaw the day-to-day management of the network’s development team, managed key relationships in the production community and supervised the editorial, budgetary and delivery components of the development process.  Among the franchises launched under her tenure are Breaking Amish and My 600lb Life.   

Prior to TLC Savitsky was Vice President, Development for Discovery Channel where her credits included Alaska: The Last FrontierProperty Wars and Swamp Brothers.  She also managed the team responsible for series development.  Savitsky also held development roles at Discovery Health Channel.  Previously, she worked for DreamWorks SKG as a story editor. 

Savitsky holds an MA in Film from American University and an undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Virginia.
