Senior Director, Original Programming & Production
Susan Henry is an award-winning producer with a career spanning more than 20 years of accomplished experience. As Senior Director of Original Programming and Production for TV One, Henry utilizes her professional knowledge and experience to create informative, cutting edge content such as, Rickey Smiley for Real, The DL Hughley Show, Urban One Honors and Cleo TV’s Living By Design with Jake and Jazz.
Most recently, Ms. Henry was at the helm of TV One's News One Now with Roland Martin as the Executive Producer of the critically acclaimed television news program. Under her leadership, the show became one of the fastest growing independent news sources, as the first and only live news program focused primarily on African American issues. One of her major accomplishments includes growing News One Now from 1-hour to a 2-hour live, daily broadcast in a competitive time period.
During her tenure, Henry oversaw production on several issue-oriented and politically themed specials for the network including: Baltimore and Beyond Town Hall Special, One-on-One with Former Attorney General Eric Holder, a Town Hall Special with Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle, a live, 6-hour Election Night Watch Party, and complete coverage of the RNC and DNC conventions while on location. Henry also led production for coverage of annual events including the NAACP Image Awards, American Black Film Festival and the Essence Festival, as well as several entertainment specials with artists such as John Legend, Common, Issa Rae and Kerry Washington to name a few.
Prior to her arrival at TV One, Henry worked with some of the most recognizable talent in the business including, Montel Williams, Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Oscar-winning actress, Mo’Nique. Henry specializes in a vast array of formats, including live shows & in-studio productions; news & information; red carpet events; entertainment and primetime specials, as well as non-fiction storytelling.
Henry’s work has been recognized in the industry with several awards and nominations including, an NABJ Salute to Excellence award for News One Now’s Baltimore and Beyond Town Hall, a Cable Fax Program Award for Best Show or Series 2016 (News One Now); Two nominations for NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding News and Information Series or Special 2016 & 2018 (News One Now), Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative in 2014 (The Dr. Oz Show). The Mo'Nique Show won an NAACP Image Award in 2009 and was nominated for “Best Talk Show” in 2010 and The Montel Williams Show was nominated for an Emmy Award in “Best Talk Show” category in 2001 and 2002.
