Aneka Hylton-Donelson serves as a Director of Development for National Geographic Channel, where she does internal and external development of talent, authentic adventure-driven stories, concepts and formats for National Geographic Channel and Disney+. Most recently she served as the Executive Producer of The March on Washington: Keepers of the Dream special in partnership with National Geographic Studios and ESPN’s The Undefeated. Prior to this role, she led the launch of the Nat Geo Kids Block and the Nat Geo Kids YouTube Channel and served as the Executive Producer and Director of Production. In these two roles, she led teams in developing and producing creative and innovative content that inspires and educates kids and families about our world in the areas of wildlife, exploration, adventure, science and technology. Hylton-Donelson has also written, produced, and post-produced several specials and series for National Geographic Channels like Lakeshore Killers, Is Your Dog a Genius?, Leopard: Ultimate Survivor, Stranger Than Nature, World's Weirdest, World's Deadliest and many more. She has won awards for Nat Geo Kids content like the Kidscreen, Parent’s Choice, Cynopsis Kids Imagination Awards and received an Emmy-nomination as the Executive Producer and Director for the award-winning series, the Nat Geo Kids Block and several original digital series.
Prior to National Geographic, Hylton-Donelson was the Post Production Services Manager at Discovery Communications where she led a team who oversaw the post-production workflow for all 14 US Networks in the areas of Marketing and Programming. She also played a key role in the launch and post management of several of its Networks, 3Net, HD Theater, Science Channel, Investigation Discovery, Military and OWN.
Hylton-Donelson also serves as a Co-Chair of NOIR-DC, a Business Employee Resource Group, at National Geographic where the mission is to empower underrepresented communities, cultivate Black leaders, and influence the media industry to reflect the diversity of its consumers. In addition, she leads efforts with other executive BERG leadership across National Geographic and Disney businesses on creating initiatives that support and encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is invested in community outreach and mentorship and is the President of the Salim Hylton Memorial Scholarship Fund, in honor of her youngest brother and in partnership with his and her alma mater, Duke Ellington School of the Arts. She also continues to serve as mentor for her alma mater, Howard University’s Fine Arts internship program in partnership with Amazon Studios. Hylton-Donelson is a passionate advocate for multi-cultural programming and diverse representation and is an active member of NAMIC and WICT.
Hylton-Donelson holds a master’s degree in Directing and Producing for Television and Film from Emerson College, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Howard University.
