Chris Powers

Manager of Nonfiction & Alternative Programming

AMC Networks

Chris Powers is Manager of Nonfiction & Alternative Programming for AMC Networks, responsible for overseeing current and development unscripted projects for three linear networks — AMC, SundanceTV, BBCAmerica — and streaming service, AMC+.

Powers has been with AMC for over 8 years where he has worked on scripted drama companion content, pop culture documentary series like Eli Roth’s History of Horror, natural history programs including Meerkat Manor, and acclaimed true crime limiteds such as Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle. This past fall, he helped launch True Crime Story on SundanceTV, a true crime franchise focused on highlighting and empowering unique and unexpected storytellers in the genre. As part of this umbrella, he worked on It Couldn’t Happen Here, in which host Hilarie Burton Morgan shines a spotlight on murder cases from small towns across America to give them the attention they deserve but don’t often get.

Powers’ career started at AMC Networks when he first moved to California from the north east, chasing his passion to work in entertainment.

Powers graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami where he studied Biomedical Engineering and then he graduated from Duke University where he mastered in Electrical Engineering.
