Winona Meringolo is the Senior Vice President of Development for Discovery’s true crime originals as well as the preeminent true crime television destination, Investigation Discovery. Meringolo oversees the curation of mystery and suspense programming for both the linear channel at ID and the company’s direct-to-consumer offering, discovery+. Focused on a booming genre with one of the most robust pipelines in the business, Meringolo and her team deliver hundreds of premium content each year, including a mix of series and specials that fully immerse and engage audiences.
Meringolo provides leadership and creative direction and is responsible for the conceptualization and development of several hit series, notably: Evil Lives Here, Queen of Meth, Curse of the Chippendales, Ken & Barbie Murders: The Lost Murder Tapes, Onision: In Real Life, Mind of a Monster, Body Cam, People Magazine Investigates, American Monster, Village of the Damned, Death in the Bayou and See No Evil. Challenging her team to open the aperture at ID, Meringolo is leading the charge to ensure Discovery has the most entertaining and addictive streaming content at discovery+, linear programming at Investigation Discovery, auditory storytelling with podcasts, and more.
Prior to her work on ID, Meringolo was the Manager of Development for TLC, where she was the lead development executive on key programs including Extreme Couponing and Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta. Meringolo first joined Discovery in 2005 as a part of the Discovery Health Channel development team and held a position as Head of Development for Discovery Digital Media. Before joining Discovery Communications, Meringolo worked in development on the feature film side of the business in Los Angeles, CA.
A graduate of the University of Vermont, Meringolo is based in Discovery Inc’s New York office.
