Brian Tannenbaum is Head of Alternative Originals for Roku Originals, where he leads all aspects of original unscripted, format, and documentary series for Roku. A key member of the team behind the launch of Roku Originals, he manages Roku’s alternative content strategy across all series commissions and development for The Roku Channel. Tannenbaum has overseen the development, production, and the launch titles for an inaugural slate of more than 20 series across large-scale formats, such as
adventure and lifestyle series, including work with Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldaña, Jessica Alba, Connie Britton, Will Smith, Chance the Rapper, and more.
Prior to joining Roku, Tannenbaum led Alternative and Unscripted programming for the short-form streaming service Quibi, managing a slate of more than 50 television titles. Upon joining Quibi, he worked hand-in-hand with the business affairs team to formulate Quibi’s alternative license model for programming, as well as with the production team in constructing and managing the programming budget for the alternative content on a day-to-day basis.
Tannenbaum got his start in the entertainment industry at Lionsgate, where he last served as Senior Vice President of Creative and Business Affairs, Alternative Programming. During his tenure, he guided the development and production of series for Lionsgate’s fast-growing alternative television business, including Kevin Hart: What the Fit (YouTube), Selling Sunset (Netflix), as well as You Kiddin’ Me (Facebook Watch), which he executive produced alongside Kim Kardashian West. Combining the responsibilities of a creative and business affairs executive, he also oversaw and negotiated all unscripted network agreements across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms on behalf of the studio.
Tannenbaum is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he received a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
