Monica Rodman

EVP, Alternative Development

Universal Television Alternative Studio

Monica Rodman is Executive Vice President, Development, Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS), a division of Universal Studio Group. In this role, she oversees series development across all platforms and works closely with the studio’s talent roster, which includes Dwayne Johnson, Jimmy Fallon and Amy Poehler. She reports directly to Toby Gorman, President, UTAS.

At the studio, Rodman has been instrumental in the development of unscripted projects such as the popular crafting series "Making It," starring three-time-Emmy®-nominated hosts Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman; comedy variety event series "That's My Jam," hosted by Jimmy Fallon; athletic competition series "The Titan Games," hosted by Dwayne Johnson; and holiday baking competition series "Baking It," hosted by Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg.

In addition to her day-to-day development responsibilities, Rodman heads Diversity Unscripted, an ongoing program that helps diverse showrunners connect with business leaders across NBCUniversal, providing producers with direct access to network executives and laying the groundwork for an unprecedented talent feeder system within the organization. She also shepherded a groundbreaking development initiative for UTAS known as The Braintrust, which acts as an adjunct creative asset, connecting producers and developers from across the industry as a way to foster up-and-coming talent and take ideas across the finish line.

Prior to joining UTAS, Rodman was an Emmy-nominated producer on "Judge Judy," "The Celebrity Apprentice" and "Fashion Star," among other shows.

Rodman has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Oregon. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her family.
