National Geographic Channel

Geoffrey Daniels is the Executive Vice President of Global Unscripted Entertainment. In this role, Daniels oversees all development and production for unscripted programming for both National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD. Daniels reports to Courteney Monroe and is based in National Geographic’s Washington, D.C., headquarters.   

As part of his responsibilities, Daniels oversees specials, tent-pole events and franchise series for National Geographic Networks, including One Strange Rock 2, Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted (w.t.),The Curiosity of Jeff Goldblum and Yellowstone Live, all currently in production.

In his previous role as General Manager of Nat Geo WILD, Daniels built the network into one of the fastest growing global channels in all of cable, driven by the success of programming stunts like Shark Fest and Big Cat Week along with hit series’ such as The Incredible Dr. Pol, Dr. K’s Exotic Animal ER and Secrets of the Zoo. Additionally, Daniels created innovative cross-platform experiences like Safari Live, commissioned Nat Geo WILD’s first original digital series, Untamed with Filipe DeAndrade and oversaw the relaunch of Nat Geo Kids YouTube Channel.

Prior to this, Daniels served as Senior Vice President of Development and Production for National Geographic Channels International, where he commissioned more than 250 hours of original programming per year for broadcast in 166 countries, 315 million homes and 34 languages worldwide. He produced nearly 400 hours of factual programming across the network’s core nature, science, adventure and world culture genres, directing breakout series such as Seconds From Disaster, Mega Structures and Air Crash Investigation. In addition, Daniels managed NGCI’s editorial relationship with strategic co-production and output partners in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Daniels joined National Geographic in 1998 as Director of Development for National Geographic Television & Film where, as part of the Program Enterprise Group, he developed and executive produced specials and series in support of National Geographic Channel’s worldwide rollout and domestic U.S. launch. 

Daniels began his career in new product development at Time-Life Video & Television, where he played a key role in building TLV into one of the world’s leading home video distributors through the acquisition and marketing of Sir David Attenborough’s “Trials of Life” and Ken Burns’ “The Civil War” and in co-production with the BBC on the award-winning children’s series “Growing Up Wild.”In 1996, Daniels directed Reader’s Digest’s entry into the global television market, heading up international co-productions and program catalog sales.
