Cynthia Fenneman is President and CEO of American Public Television (APT), the leading syndicator of high quality programs to U.S. public television's 356 stations. APT Worldwide, a division of American Public Television, is a major provider of quality, non-fiction content to the worldwide market.  With more than 30 years of broadcasting management and production experience in commercial, cable and public television, she brings broad knowledge of the media industry to her post.  During her tenure at APT, she has led the company in new strategic and creative directions – including the 2006 launch of Create TV, the national 24/7 lifestyle channel;  2010 distribution of WORLD, the nonfiction news and documentary channel;  Create Challenges to mine new online talent; APT PitchFest for developing new content; and the launch of thousands of episodes of APT content in Passport – the streaming service for PBS stations.  For the past 15 years, APT has distributed approximately 25-50% of public television’s top 100 highest rated program titles.  Prior to joining APT, Fenneman served as President of Fenneman Productions; Major Projects Executive on the launch team for Discovery Health Channel; and Special Projects Director for PBS’s National/Local Initiatives.  As an independent producer, she was Executive Producer for documentaries for A&E Biography, PBS’s lifestyle series Ciao Italia, APT fundraising specials and content for other broadcasters. During her 12 years at Westinghouse Broadcasting, she held numerous management and producing positions at KYW/Philadelphia, KPIX/San Francisco and WJZ/Baltimore. Fenneman has produced a wide range of programming from the Live Aid highlights special in London to U.S. Presidential Debates and Evening/PM Magazine to daily live talk shows. She has been honored with more than 40 international, national and regional awards, including 12 Emmys and a Peabody, and is a frequent juror for the International Emmys, duPont-Columbia Awards, Realscreen, Seoul International Drama Awards, and other content review panels.
