Thomas Dey is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of ACF Investment Bank.
ACF specializes in selling, buying, fundraising, securitization, and pre and post deal services for businesses, intellectual property owners, and brands in Media and Entertainment. The company has offices in London and Los Angeles and has completed over 120 deals in this sector.
Prior to founding ACF, Thomas was a full equity partner in the global accounting firm Grant Thornton where he headed the Media Investment Banking Team responsible for serving the dominant position in Media and Entertainment.
ACF has structured and led some of the most innovative financing deals in the entertainment industry including the sale of The Lord of The Rings & The Hobbit IP to Embracer Group, advising Syco Entertainment on the Securitization of its Got Talent Franchise, advising Private Equity Firm Shamrock Capital Advisors on its investment in Boardwalk Pictures (producers of Welcome to Wrexham) , the sale of Critical Content to SK Global, advising Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones (Black Mirror creators) on the sale of their company, Broke and Bones to Netflix, advising Plimsoll Productions on its investment from Lloyds Development Capital, the sale of Left Bank Pictures (creators of The Crown) to Sony, Bear Grylls Ventures to Banijay, Paddington Bear Intellectual Property to Studio Canal, Pilgrim Studios to Lionsgate, Leftfield Entertainment to ITV Plc, and Top Gear on behalf of Jeremy Clarkson to BBC.
Recently, ACF advised an investor group led by Forest Road Asset Management LLC with respect to their investment in Range Media Partners. This group comprised of affiliates of Liberty Global, an investment fund advised by Wildcat Capital Management, and Rick Hess.
Thomas has been listed in Variety500 – an index of the 500 most influential global business leaders in the entertainment industry, honoured by Variety in its Dealmakers Impact Report, is a veteran speaker at scripted and unscripted markets across the UK, Europe, and USA, including Realscreen Summit, Realscreen West, MIPCOM, Content London, and Content LA, and is regularly interviewed for his industry insights about the global content business.
Thomas is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and having passed Series 24, 79 and 63 is a FINRA registered representative of ACF. Thomas currently lives in California with his wife and two children.
