Jason Sarlanis is President of TNT, TBS, TruTV, ID & HLN, Linear and Streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery where he where he is responsible for network strategy, content development, and original production, for a portfolio of brands at the US Networks division of the company, as well as development and production of a slate of original documentaries for the company’s streaming service, HBO Max.

Appointed to the role of President of ID in July 2021, Sarlanis has delivered thought-provoking breakout hits that spark national conversation including the Emmy nominated Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TVHouse of Hammer,The Fall of Diddy, The Trial of Karen Read and The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, among others.  He also launched high profile partnerships with Academy Award® winner Octavia Spencer and filmmaker Michael Bay, expanding ID’s reach and impact in the true crime space.  His work has drawn industry acclaim with leading trades noting that “Investigation Discovery is making a killing in true crime."

ID has firmly established itself as a powerhouse in the podcasting space, launching a series of gripping true crime podcasts that have consistently topped the podcast charts and captivated audiences. The breakout success began with Unraveled: The Long Island Serial Killer, an investigative series that not only reignited public interest in a cold case but also played a pivotal role in driving renewed scrutiny that ultimately led to a suspect being charged and placed behind bars. Building on that momentum, over the past two years ID has continued to release compelling series, 9 of which soared to Apple’s Top 50 Charts, including: Why Can’t We Talk About Amanda’s Mom?, Mind of a Monster, Fear Thy Neighbor, and Disappeared: The Bradley Sisters.  Most recently, Who Took Misty Copsey? emerged as another standout, charting at #1.  ID is home to award-winning podcasts like Who Killed Jennifer Judd?, Mind of a Monster, and Very Scary People, and over the last three years, ID has earned critical praise and industry recognition, securing 13 industry award wins and nominations. ID’s podcast slate has not only expanded the network’s reach in expanding storytelling styles, but also elevated the true crime genre. 

A skilled storyteller with a strong ability to create buzzy pop culture moments Sarlanis's role was expanded to include oversight of TNT, TBS, TruTV and HLN in December 2022. Under his leadership, TNT and TBS continue to rank as the top 2 cable entertainment networks 2025-to-date in Prime. TNT’s highly-anticipated series, The Librarians: The Next Chapter, debuted as the #2 new cable original drama season premiere of 2025.  TBSs Impractical Jokers TBS’s Impractical Jokers is defying industry trends, posting some of its strongest ratings ever on the network, growing significantly over prior seasons, and attracting a younger audience this year. High Value Target (w/t), a new scripted limited series about the interrogation of Saddam Hussein, will premiere in 2026 and will continue to spotlight the drama and quality storytelling that fans love and expect from original TNT content. 

Sarlanis joined Discovery, Inc. in 2016 as Senior Vice President, Development at TLC. He led development on all original programming for the TLC linear network as well as love and relationship, family and lifestyle content for discovery+. In his tenure, Sarlanis was responsible for procuring breakout hits which led TLC to become the #1 primetime cable network for women in 2020. Sarlanis spearheaded the expansion of the 90 Day Fiancé universe with ratings juggernauts The Other Way, Pillow Talk, Darcey & Stacey, The Family Chantel and The Single Life. Other brand-defining programs launched under his tenure include hit series 1000-lb Sisters, sMothered, I Love a Mama’s Boy, Welcome to Plathville and Doubling Down with the Derricos.  

Prior to joining Discovery, Sarlanis worked for a variety of other global media companies including tenures at ABC, Ryan Seacrest Productions and E!. He developed and provided creative oversight on the Keeping Up with the Kardashian family of shows as well as other hit formats like Fashion Police, The Soup, Chelsea Lately, ABC’s To Tell The Truth and Battlebots.
