Robert Mills is executive vice president, Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment, Walt Disney Television. In this role, he leads Walt Disney Television Alternative, a production unit for unscripted programming; and oversees development and production for alternative programming, specials and late-night for ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals. He also has oversight of ABC daytime programming.
Having joined ABC’s Alternative department in 2003, Mills has risen through the ranks and in 2021 expanded his purview to add unscripted programming for Hulu Originals. He is responsible for development and current production for hit unscripted series including the legacy series Dancing with the Stars; cultural phenomenon The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives; The Bachelor franchise; The Kardashians; Love Thy Nader; long-running hits America’s Funniest Home Videos, American Idol and Shark Tank; popular game shows The $100,000 Pyramid, Celebrity Family Feud, Celebrity Jeopardy, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, Match Game, Press Your Luck and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, among others; late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live; as well as two critically acclaimed, Emmy® Award-winning Live in Front of a Studio Audience specials. He also oversees culture-defining live special events, including The Oscars®, The CMA Awards, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and in 2027 will add The GRAMMYS®.
Prior to joining ABC, Mills began his career as an assistant in the Alternative department at CAA.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stonehill College and a Master of Fine Arts in film from Loyola Marymount University. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
