Based in New York, Hit + Run is a full service production company known for high concept and high quality story-driven programming with unprecedented access to incredible locations and underground subcultures. Combining storytelling with compelling and dynamic visuals, the company produces across all genres, from disruptive digital programs to cutting edge television. Since launching just over a year ago, Hit + Run has produced numerous series including the cult hits Way Past Midnight for Red Bull TV and American Down Low for Complex Networks, and is currently in production on a second season of I Was Prey for Animal Planet. The company has also sold projects to History, Nat Geo, Travel Channel, Nat Geo Wild, and Oxygen. Most recently, Hit+Run announced a co-production deal with former Red Bull Media House executive Brian Lavin and his newly launched production company Bee Media.
Prior to launching Hit +Run, Shaftel served as Senior Vice President of Development at international powerhouse ITV Studios America. During his tenure at ITV, he created and executive produced multiple television series including Secret Space Escapes (Science Channel), Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters (Animal Planet) and Rebel Gold (Discovery Chanel). Additionally, he spearheaded projects in development across networks including Nat Geo, MTV, A&E, History, Travel Channel and Food Network.
Before joining ITV, Shaftel led the development team for Pawn Stars producer Leftfield Pictures. While Vice President of Development at Leftfield, he developed over 20 series, included the History Channel hits American Restoration and Counting Cars. He also developed the Oddities franchise for Science Channel as well as Blood, Sweat & Heels for Bravo.
Previously, he held executvie postions at Discovery and Spike.
