Chris Rantamaki is Discovery Channel’s Senior Vice President of Production and Development.  Based in Los Angeles, Rantamaki oversees the east and west coast teams responsible for the network’s non-fiction slate, which includes such hits as Gold Rush, Deadliest Catch, Fast n’ Loud, Naked and Afraid and Killing Fields, among others.  Currently, Discovery is cable’s #1 network in M25-54 & M18-49 (excl. sports) and owns 9 of the year’s Top 10 unscripted cable series among M25-54 & M18-49.

Rantamaki joined Discovery from Viacom’s Spike TV where he served as Senior Vice President of Original Series.  At Spike, he developed the highly rated series, Ink Master, which continues to grow in ratings and remains the longest-running unscripted series in the network’s history.  In addition, his portfolio included Spike’s hit shows, Bar Rescue and Tattoo Nightmares - his contributions helped Spike TV grow to become the most watched channel of the Viacom Media Networks in 2014. 

Rantamaki also has producing credits working for more than 15 years on a variety of talk and reality series, including TLC’s, Miami Ink and A Dating Story, Discovery’s, Pitchmen, The Colony, and Fox’s daily strip, Ambush Makeover. 

He is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design and served on the school’s Governing Council.
