In her role with Discovery Networks, Follows is responsible for the commissioning, development, and production of independent programming for Discovery and its related networks (Animal Planet, Discovery Velocity, Investigation Discovery, and Discovery Science).
In 2005, Follows joined Discovery Channel’s in-house production company, Exploration Production Inc.’s (EPI) as producer and soon rose to the position of Director of Production. Under her focused leadership, EPI became a leading producer of high-quality and critically acclaimed documentary series and specials, including Queen Mary II, Mighty Ships, Nerve Centre, Forensic Factor, and Mighty Planes – programs which have achieved success not only on Discovery Channel, but in markets around the world.
Since assuming her role of Director of Commissioning and Production in 2012, Discovery has premiered a record-breaking number of Canadian shows. Follows oversees an annual slate of over 350 hours of original programming, including some of the channels most successful programs (Highway Thru Hell, Canada’s Worst Driver,Heavy Rescue 401). Most recently, looking to create channel defining event programming Follows originated the concept for, and acts as Executive Producer of Discovery’s first original drama series, Frontier, a partnership with Netflix.
Prior to joining Discovery Channel, she enjoyed a successful career as a screenwriter for Canadian and U.S. television series including Brace Face, Traders, Relic Hunter, Beast Master, Emily of New Moon and Pit Pony.
