Andrew Schechter

SVP, Development

Food Network and Cooking Channel

Andrew Schechter is vice president of programming and development for Food Network and Cooking Channel. He is responsible for developing new series and specials and overseeing current programming for both of Scripps Networks Interactive’s food brands. Schechter previously served as director of programming and, before that, joined the networks as a programming manager. Schechter’s projects include Guy’s Grocery Games, Restaurant: Impossible, Eating America with Anthony Anderson, and Extra Virgin.

Preceding his time at Scripps Networks, Schechter spent five years with Discovery Communications managing several of Animal Planet’s specials and pilots, such as its popular Puppy Bowl. While at Discovery, he also worked as a story producer for the third season of Whale Wars.

Schechter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University and lives in Brooklyn with his wife. When he’s not creating exciting new television series, he dabbles in comedy improv.
